1938 Lagonda LG6 Short-Chassis Saloon

This car has the original body and is a full, matching numbers example. IE: The chassis, engine, transmission and running gear remain as they were when she left the factory in January 1938.

Fitted with the hugely successful, original, Meadows 4.5litre six-cylinder engine and coupled with the Meadows, G10 gearbox with which she left the factory.

So far as we can ascertain (at this early stage), only Eighteen examples of this model option were made on the Short Chassis variant (out of a total of 67 cars produced). A further Eighteen cars – wearing various bodies – were produced on the Long Chassis alternative. She is a rare, matching numbers survivor. At the time of writing, we do not yet know how many other survivors exist.

She was produced at the Lagonda Works in Staines and issued with the same registration and chassis numbers she carries today. She was one of the finest cars you could buy at that time.

Her first owner was in Cheshire, followed by a gentleman of high military rank in Worcestershire. After this she has had quite a few owners (most, if not all, are known). She has also spent some time in the United States, where she had two recorded owners.

Through her lifetime she has been subject to several expensive refurbishments and will now benefit from a further, full overhaul while with us. – We expect this to take a few years once started.

When finished, we plan to use her for long-distance, European touring.

We have already undertaken the initial, preliminary clean-up to make her feel loved. She has recently been subject to a complete rewire.
